Dmitry Balyasny is the Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Balyasny Asset Management L.P (BAM). BAM is a global multi-strategy investment firm with about $2B in assets under management. Before starting BAM, Mr. Balyasny began his trading career with Schonfeld Securities, LLC in 1994 and has been an active investor in hedge funds since 1999. During his tenure at Schonfeld, Mr. Balyasny built the group that has formed the core of BAM.
At BAM, Mr. Balyasny is actively involved in daily firm investing and chairs the Executive Committee. Mr. and Mrs. Balyasny are active supporters of numerous charities though The Balyasny Foundation and through their membership on the Teach for America Mid West Board. Mr. Balyasny earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Loyola University in Chicago. Mr. Balyasny is based in Chicago and is married with four children.
