Chicago Children’s Theatre
Chicago Children’s Theatre (CCT) aspires to enrich our community through diverse and significant theatrical and educational programming that engages and inspires the child in all of us. CCT achieves its mission through the creation of awe-inducing theatrical productions and programs with an emphasis on inclusion, accessibility and affordability; inspiring young people and families to lead lives of adventure, courage, and curiosity.
Since its formation in 2004, CCT has grown to become the city’s largest professional theatre company exclusively devoted to children and families and an important member of Chicago’s cultural landscape. In 14 seasons, CCT has served over 425,000 children and families with productions of the highest aesthetic caliber and provided education programming with powerful links to learning. CCT honors a special commitment to low-income families and to children with special needs, two significantly under-served populations. In 2017, the organization celebrated a pinnacle achievement with the opening of its first permanent home, transforming the former 12th District Police Station in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood into a performing arts and education epicenter- a realization with profound symbolism and substance. A place once reserved for confining the human spirit is now a community hub for amplifying creativity and expression.
