Erie Teen Health Center
Erie Teen Health Center is the Chicago region’s oldest and largest health center dedicated to adolescents ages 12-24 and their children. Since opening in 1985, its mission is to empower youth to take charge of their health and set them on the path to lifelong wellness. The Teen Center offers youth comprehensive medical and behavioral healthcare, health and wellness education and family planning services.
Located in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood, where one-third of the population lives in poverty, Erie’s Teen Center is a critical resource for more than 3,000 patients. Adolescents are at a critical stage to adopt healthy behaviors and learn lifelong self-care skills. Yet young people in the neighborhood and surrounding communities face a shortage of health services targeted to their needs, and myriad barriers to healthcare, including affordability, geography, confidentiality concerns, and discomfort with providers. Erie’s Teen Center addresses those needs, offering age-appropriate high-quality, affordable teen healthcare in a respectful, non-judgmental, confidential environment.
Erie Teen Health Center is one of Erie Family Health Centers’ 13 sites. Motivated by our belief that high-quality healthcare is a human right, Erie serves nearly 78,000 patients per year at locations throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, regardless of insurance status, immigration status or the ability to pay. Founded in 1957, Erie delivers integrated and affordable medical, dental and behavioral health care for patients of all ages, under one roof. We also encourage good health through ongoing health education, case/care management, strong hospital partnerships, and community outreach.
