Christopher House

Christopher House was founded in 1906 during the settlement house movement to support immigrants transitioning to life in America. The agency became a leader in piloting innovative programs such as Head Start in the 1960s and teen parent programs in the 1980s. The last decade at Christopher House has been a time of tremendous growth with the opening of its Logan Square campus in 2007, James & Jean Stewart Campus in Belmont Cragin in 2013, and ongoing operations at its Uptown campus, which first opened in 1994. Today, Christopher House is a family of schools providing education and resources to thousands of low-income children and adults to succeed in school, the workplace, and life. Christopher House partners with families, including teenage and single-parent families, to provide a continuum of personalized education for students from birth through high school, as well as tools for parents to create and foster stable, self-sufficient families. Christopher House’s unique and data-driven approach ensures collaboration with the entire family to develop independent, creative, lifelong learners in a family of schools where students, teachers, and parents form a community committed to excellence, achievement, perseverance, respect, and compassion. Christopher House’s ultimate vision is to create a national model for helping low-income, at-risk children and their families achieve success.
