Intrinsic Schools is a new charter network of Chicago public schools that opened its first campus on the Northwest Side this fall. Founded and led by Melissa Zaikos, one of Chicago’s most innovative educators, Intrinsic’s mission is to create a revolutionary new school model — blended, personalized learning — in order to prepare all students for post-secondary success and world-changing endeavors, and to provide the education community with a roadmap to sustainable implementation. Currently we serve 450 students across 7th, 9th and 10th grade — at capacity we’ll serve 900 students, 7th-12th grade. Over the next five to seven years we plan to open four more permanent campuses across the city. The work we’re doing is unprecedented. If we do this work well and share the results with everyone we can, schools across Chicago and the nation will be transformed. Achieving these goals requires an all-in approach: teachers are all in, principals are all in, Board members are all in. And at our backs we need all-in investors who see how we can permanently reverse the cycle of unequal access to high quality education. To do this work requires significant start-up investment , and we’re honored to call Invest for Kids a partner.
