Citizen Schools Illinois

Citizen Schools is dedicated to helping all children discover and achieve their dreams. We enable public middle schools in low-income communities to provide a longer learning day rich with opportunities. A highlight of the program is the 10 week, volunteer-led apprenticeships: real world projects related to science, finance, architecture, the arts, service, media, and various other topics taught by volunteers called Citizen Teachers. Our deep partnerships with schools put young adults on track to succeed by connecting the resources of communities, companies, governments and philanthropies. Citizen Schools students see their attendance, grades and test scores increase and graduate from hgh school at a higher rate than their matched peers.
