Forging Opportunities for Refugees in America (FORA)

The mission of Forging Opportunities for Refugees in America (FORA) is to ensure that refugee families are provided access to an education sufficient to prepare them to become economically self-sufficient and robustly engaged in American civic life.

In addition to being traumatized, displaced, impoverished, and linguistically isolated, many refugee families have been deliberately denied any opportunity to attend school or gain literacy for generations. This systematic denial of the human right to literacy results in ongoing difficulties learning even after resettlement. At FORA, refugee students are empowered with targeted foundational educational support backed by decades of pedagogical research, restoring the rights of literacy and education through individualized and intensive High Impact Tutoring and wrap-around school-support services.
