North Chicago Community Partners
North Chicago Community Partners (NCCP) was formed in direct response to the lack of outside support for the academic challenges facing the children of North Chicago – an under-resourced community with public schools that are failing to meet the needs of more than 3,500 school-age children. Through its unique “community school model,” NCCP works in collaboration with almost 50 different organizations and thousands of volunteers to provide after school enrichment activities, lunchtime tutoring and mentoring programs, family engagement and education opportunities, Saturday programs and much more. NCCP also ensures that all students come to school “ready to learn” by offering vision screenings, eye glasses, weekend food programs, uniforms, school supplies, etc. Recently, NCCP expanded its operations beyond program design and implementation and is now a highly regarded strategic partner working with the district to strengthen its base of support and build a sustainable and replicable model for delivering high-quality education in other communities.
