Snow City Arts

Snow City Arts is a pioneering program that provides arts, cultural, and educational programming to hospitalized kids unable to attend school because of serious illness. Distinguishing itself from other hospital-based arts programs — and recognized by the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities as one of the 15 best youth programs in the United States — Snow City Arts puts the focus on learning, and strives to keep its student/patients as academically in-step with their healthy peers as possible through its bedside instruction in creative writing, music, painting, photography, and filmmaking. With operations at Rush University Medical Center, John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, and Children’s Memorial Hospital, Snow City Arts annually works with enough sick kids to fill three elementary schools, and since its founding in 1998, has taught nearly 15,000 children.
