Christian is the CIO of Sourcerock Group, an equity long short asset manager focused on the energy ecosystem which he founded in 2020. Prior to Sourcerock, Christian was a partner and portfolio manager at Balyasny Asset Management (BAM) between 2004 and 2019. Christian ran both energy and industrials allocations at BAM, was consistently a top profit generator, and became a partner in 2007. Within BAM, Christian launched and managed the ZIE fund from 2014 until 2019 as a separate outside portfolio. He also managed a team of 10 investment professionals across equity and credit. Before BAM, Christian was a portfolio manager at Fidelity Investments from 1996-2004. He managed Fidelity Select Natural Gas, Select Software, and Select Consumer at various points in his career. Christian graduated from University of Michigan Ross School of Business in 1996. Christian currently serves on the board of Kent Denver, an independent school in Denver, Colorado, and previously served on the board of A Better Chicago, in Chicago, Illinois.
