John L. Keeley, Jr. founded Keeley Investment Corp., a FINRA Member broker-dealer, in 1976. Building on the success of Keeley Investment Corp., John founded Keeley Asset Management Corp., an SEC registered investment adviser, in 1982. KAMCO currently manages over $6 billion in assets, which are comprised of registered mutual funds, pension funds, private foundations and endowments, public funds, educational and religious organizations, and high-net worth individuals. KAMCO serves as investment adviser to the Keeley Funds, an SEC registered family of six mutual funds with over $4.1 billion in assets.
John is the President and Chief Investment Officer of KAMCO, and the President of KIC and the Keeley Funds. In these capacities, John has continuously employed his corporate restructuring investment philosophy, with particular focus in corporate spin-offs, post-bankruptcy reorganizations, savings & loan and insurance conversions, wayward utilities, and securities trading below book value. His three sons serve as Officers of KAMCO, KIC and the Keeley Funds, and they are actively involved in the businesses.
John graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1962 and later obtained his MBA from the University of Chicago in 1965. He attained the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1974. John was recently granted an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from DePaul University.
John serves as a Director for Marquette National Corporation and the First National Bank of LaGrange. He is also the Founder and Director of the Keeley Family Foundation, a charitable not-for-profit corporation that engages in philanthropic activities. John currently resides in Western Springs, IL with Barbara, his wife of over fifty years.
