Tom Ricketts is the Executive Chairman of the Chicago Cubs. He is also the
Chairman of securities underwriting and distribution firm InspereX.
Tom founded Incapital, later renamed InspereX, in 1999 and was the CEO of the
firm through 2009. During that period Tom was named to Institutional Investor
Magazine’s “40 Most Influential in E-Finance” five times and was the 2010 E&Y
Midwest Entrepreneur of the Year in Financial Services.
In 2009, Tom led his family’s bid for the Chicago Cubs. Tom was named Sports
Business Journal Executive of the Year in 2017. Tom oversees several Cubs related
entities including real estate developer Marquee Development, the award winning
Marquee Network and VC fund Marquee Ventures.
Tom is on several private company and non-profit boards including Meijer Corp. and
The Field Museum.
Tom has an AB and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He won the Business
School’s Distinguished Young Alumnus Award in 2005.
He and his wife, Cecelia, a physician, met at Wrigley Field. They live in the Chicago
area and have five children.
