Arthur Young is the Portfolio Manager and a Managing Partner of Tensile Capital Management, a firm he co-founded in San Francisco in 2012. He oversees the public equity investing process at Tensile and focuses on sourcing, researching and executing opportunistic value investments over a long-term horizon. With a focus on small and midcap companies, Arthur has worked collaboratively with several management teams and boards to unlock shareholder value throughout his 20-year investment career.
Prior to founding Tensile, Arthur was a Managing Partner and the head of public equity investing at Blum Capital and served on the board of JDA Software Inc. until its sale to Red Prairie. Arthur started his investment career at Fir Tree Partners and subsequently was an investment partner at Blavin & Company. He previously worked as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company, and practiced commercial and securities litigation at Greenberg Traurig, LLP.
Arthur earned a B.A. in Economics with Honors from Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.
